The next time a

prairie fire threatens

to inhale a Northern Alberta

hamlet or

municipality, we need

to foreground the

resource extraction

industry, we need to

kick down the doors

of oily-haired CEOs

and parade them through

the wide,

unpaved streets

of the north,

and dip the tops

of their heads in

the spiking

flames, the wide

maw of the inferno

We need to treat

them like a seagull

treats a recently

discarded

chicken-wing

bone
